APPLICATION PROCESS

Acton accepts a reduced number of students per year who apply directly after college. For these select students, there is an even greater emphasis on college scores, history of leadership positions, community involvement, internships, after-school jobs, etc., to make up for the lack of work experience.

A non-refundable application fee of USD $50.00 must be paid in our online application system.

Acton has a very limited class size, so we encourage potential students who are very serious and excited about attending the program to apply as early as possible to ensure they have the best chances of acceptance.

All applications must be completed and received before the application deadline. In order to be considered, applications must include the submission of the application form, CV, two letters of recommendation and the payment of the application fee (USD $50.00). For more information, please email us at: actonmba@ufm.edu /  advancementactonmba@ufm.edu

STUDYING AT ACTON

Pre-Matriculation (Pre-Mat) is delivered to you through email, so you can work on it as soon as you gain admission into the program. You will be doing Entrepreneurial Journey, Cash & Valuation, Life of Meaning, Operations & Costs and Customers Pre-Mat/Toolkits and it gives you all the right tools and knowledge you need to take each course.   All Toolkits are take-home assigments.

On average, every case requires 4 to 7 hours of preparation. When you attend class, you must be able to make a clear presentation of what you would do if you were in the shoes of the entrepreneur of the case. This presentation often involves making financial projections and strategic decisions about customers, operations, and cash management. For each of the courses, you will typically prepare 2 cases each week.

If you can’t make it to a class, you should inform the Acton MBA Administration and your study group. It is your responsibility to provide valid proof for your absence. You will also be required to submit a case write-up for that session. If you miss 25% of classes, even if justified, the Acton Committee will ask you to drop the course.

Grades are based on class participation and two exams, one in the middle of each course and another at the end. Exams require the student to analyze a real life case and present a written proposal to confront the challenges presented in the case. In specific courses, simulations or projects are part of the grade.

No, all materials will be provided at the beginning of the course. The materials are made up of cases and notes that will be used for class discussions.

In person classes are held at Universidad Francisco Marroquín campus located in Guatemala City (Business School Building, EN-101).
